You cannot rely on JavaScript being available. Period.

Spot on. Roger Johansson shows up three modern ‘web 2.0′ sites that fail the basic premise of graceful degredation/enhancement. A responsible developer always builds their app to work without JavaScript. Only afterward should you get fancy with the JavaScript enhancements. If JavaScript is essential for your application to work, then there’s something wrong with your application.
