Hello from Wales.

I’ve got time for a quick update, so here goes:

So far so good! I managed to get (briefly) lost on the way here again, though in the end it turned out I wasn’t lost at all, I just needed to carry on the road another mile to realise I was on track. Once I got to Llandudno I dropped off my clothes in the holiday cottage before heading to Bangor, to deliver Bens new Canon-350D and store a few items. We ended up going to a beach in Anglesey with a few of his friends, which was cool. We also got to experiment with the new camera, and yes - I’m seriously envious.

It rained on the Sunday so I didn’t get out, but Monday night I took a long walk around Llandudno, and got most of the way up the Great Orme, which is where I finally realised ‘I live here now!’ and also ‘am I really this unfit?!’ as I sat down on a rock nursing aching legs. It’s a beautiful sight from up there, the sun going down behind you and the shadow of the mini-mountain cast over the town. The types of light you get here are amazing, from warm bronze sunsets to pastel blue mornings. I can’t wait to see a descent thunderstorm. You can see the East and West shores from the Orme too, and the air was clear enough to see (clearly) an oil rig on the skyline, with it’s flame burning brightly, and the off-shore wind-farm too.

I’ve yet to find the Laundrette, that’s my task for tonight, but otherwise I’m surviving quite happily. There will be photos once I’ve settled into the flat and got myself a net connection.

And with that, I am going to get back to work!

    LOL @ the rain comment, I couldn’t believe it when I first moved to Wales - you’ll definitely be wanting to locate that launderette!

    Thanks Chris smiley icon: smile Once I’m in the flat there will be invitations for visiting if people feel up for it. I also realised there’s a train station in Llandudno, so I’m going to have to see where that goes.

    @John:
    I think Malarkey duped me! Both days I was here before starting work the weather was brilliant! Now it’s raining cats, dogs and large elephants. At least the car looks semi-clean now.

    @Joey:
    With the magic of Google Local I now know where it is. I just have to -find- it next. And figure out how you use one. :lol

    @Kath:
    Pah, I’ve been enjoying shower privileges for days now. It’s so good having a shower again. *bliss* How’s the new cooker?

    @Ben:
    I am expecting serious stuff with that camera dude, and more updates of your website. Hop to it! smiley icon: wink

    From Llandudno train station you can get to Llandudno Junction (I’m presuming you’ve been there? Pizza Hut, Cineworld, KFC, McDonald’s etc - like a mini Festival Park!). Llandudno Junction is on the main line from Crewe to Holyhead so you can get anywhere on that line very easily (e.g. Chester, Rhyl, Prestatyn, Bangor, Holyhead) by just changing trains at Llandudno Junction.

  8. MWF posted 22hrs, 45min, 45sec after the entry and said:

    The Cineworld is quite good at Llandudno junction, the Pizza Hutt is OK too. I’ve been there three times.

    New cooker is okay but the grill has one of those removable handles which is really annoying, the grill door doesn’t open flat (a safety measure, would you believe), and the grill is silent so you forget your toast is under.

    Hey Matt, I missed this tonight but there is mention of the orme that is great here.

    Fencing tonament went ok. lost two matches(hope I spelt that right)won the other.(just)got one point, got hit, got hit again, then again, then got scared. score was 3-1 to them. managed to pull off some lucky lounges and nailed ‘im 5-3.(to my relief)The 2nd match i was fighting an agresssive fencer who kept bullying me, got so annoyed eventually i just started trying to nail ‘im as hard as I could. Got his neck but that was an accident considering it’s not a target area 4 foil.(unfortuannatley) Think I hurt him though because i saw his eyes water.(heh heh heh)I was so worn out after that that I lost my next match that was straight after,yet again with an aggressive fencer.barbecue after was alright. That was until I fell into a load of nettles and got stung all round my ankles and up my arms,oh yeh and my chin and I might just of got my nose 2. Realley painful, and now it iches. I’ve got rashes all up my arms. love MY room now. Dad wants to know if you want us too bring your computer desk down. Also I want to know what a URL is. From your favourite (though you dont have much choice since i’m the only one,no cursing and wishing otherwise)your little brother Thomas.
    P.S. C you on friday(Unless of course i’ve alreadey been in whicch case i won’t) because Mum and Dad aree dragging me down.

    Cheers John! I actually switched the TV on as ‘Coast’ got to Llandudno, pretty interesting stuff (and the presenter lady is hella cute, which is a bonus).

    Hi Thomas, finally got on the computer and not playing StarWars I see. :lol
    Tip for you - don’t fall into nettles, it’s not fun.
    That’s some good fencing, and if they’re being ‘full on’ attack, surprise them by stabbing them first. That’s what I say. Be more aggressive than they are. smiley icon: smile

    It’s nice to see you want to come visit your big brother voluntarily Thomas. You can sleep outside on the pavement. smiley icon: wink

    A URL is (more or less) the bit you type in a browser to take you to a website. ‘http://www.google.com’ is a URL.

    Oh yeh i get to sleep out on the pavement, go me go me.(Incase you couldn’t tell I was being sarcastic)
