Music I've been liking in 2009
My passion for blogging may have vanished last year, but my passion for music hasn’t changed one iota, so I’ve got to share some tunes that have been plastering great big smiles on my face over the last few months. I’ve not gone overboard - there are only four tracks:
The XX remix of Florence + The Machine’s version of “You Got The Love”
High Quality Version, requires Spotify.
Love how laid back this is.
Jakwob remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Under The Sheets”
High Quality Version, requires Spotify.
This gets stuck in my head every single time. The base is pure unadulterated dirt, absolutely love it. Yes it’s formulaic, but god damn it’s beautiful and incessant. Requires monster sub-woofer and huge volume.
Skream remix of La Roux’s “In For The Kill”
High Quality Version, requires Spotify.
I love how this is so slow and broody, the remix pulled a load of emotion into it that the original just doesn’t have. But if you want a little more D&B in your version because you’re a beat-head instead of a music-head you can try the High Contrast re-edit of the Skream Remix of La Roux’s “In For The Kill” - how many times can you re-edit someone else’s track?!
Bat For Lashes: Daniel
High Quality Album Version, requires Spotify.
The YouTube version is from Later with Jools Holland, and it’s still brilliant. Her voice is simply stunning, the tonality somehow reminds me a lot of the woman from Clannad though they aren’t really all that similar. As a side-track, here’s Clannad’s insanely beautiful track from ”Harry’s Game”, about an SAS officer that infiltrates the IRA.
