Playstation 3 PAL version won't play many PS2 games

Sony continue to prove their inability to comprehend their own market by issuing a press release which states that the PAL version of PS3 will have significantly reduced PS2 compatibility compared with the Japanese and American versions. Both of which already had reduced compatibility anyway.

So, if you were thinking of buying one and still being able to play your PS2 games, you can wave that idea goodbye. I wonder if there are any ways left for Sony to screw up? We’ve had outrageous pricing, massive delays, inability to ship units, followed by a lack of demand for units, and now crippled hardware for the EU. Bravo Sony, I don’t think you can do a better job of shooting yourself in the face if you try. I’m glad I’m not a gamer. Or a Sony stock holder.
