Mac OS X on Intel: Try before you buy?
Apparently there is nothing at all to stop the Intel version of Mac OSX 10.4.1 from running flawlessly on a standard PC with standard Intel hardware. Pirate versions are already available. Smart move by Apple? I’d tend to agree.
